These are generic instructions for sound cards. See further down the page for specific information about the Digigram VX222.

{{Matrix:Soundcard|name=Digigram VX222|module=vx222}}

== Additional information for VX222 ==

In addition to the above you need to install two further packages. If you have already tried inserting the modules you should remove them before continuing.

modprobe -r snd-vx222 ; modprobe snd-pcm-oss ; modprobe snd-mixer-oss ; modprobe snd-seq-oss

Now unzip and install the alsa-tools package:
(The alsa-tools package is needed by the alsa-firmware package.)

cd ..
bunzip2 alsa-tools-xxx
tar -xf alsa-tools-xxx
cd alsa-tools-xxx
./configure ; make ; make install

You also need to install the alsa-firmware package. This contains the firmware which needs to be loaded on to some sound cards including the Digigram range. So to unzip and install the alsa-firmware package:

cd ..
bunzip2 alsa-firmware-xxx
tar -xf alsa-firmware-xxx
cd alsa-firmware-xxx
./configure ; make ; make install

You should find firmware files are now present in /lib/firmware.

Now insert the modules into the kernel:

modprobe snd-vx222 ; modprobe snd-pcm-oss ; modprobe snd-mixer-oss ; modprobe snd-seq-oss

Check for any errors with dmesg, there should be none but there should be a message about the interrupt which is in use for the sound card.
