  I've currently been watching the "sam9407" mailing list.  This is the
chipset utilized by cards like the Hoontech Sound Track and the 
Gulemont Home Studio.  Both of these cards support many recording and
playback channels, as well as extensive midi features.  Once they have
a full working version of the driver, I think that it would be a 
cantidate for an ALSA port.  
  The Hoontech card also supports external Digital I/O and  AD boxes, 
so you could have quite a few inputs.

  I don't know wether or not it is more or less cost effective than 
syncronizing cheaper cards, but it sounds like a more complete
