Jesse,

Jaroslav has patienly responded to my pleas for help.  He pointed out that I
first need to install libtools (I used RPM as I'm Red Hat 5.1) and then use
the cvscompile script.  That worked.  I then performed a "make install" and
libs are in!  I'm now struggling to compile utils.  If interested, I'll post
the solution... when I have one.
