Depends what you care about. If you care a lot about getting the best
sound quality for your money, do NOT buy a SoundBlaster except for the
PCI cards. The ISA SoundBlasters (SB16 or AWE cards) use inferior D/A
and A/D converters. Also, they don't do true full duplex, so if you are
interested in multitrack recording or anything else that requires
simultaneous input & output, do NOT get an ISA-bus SoundBlaster.

I'd suggest an AudioPCI (based on hearsay) or a Turtle Beach Malibu
(based on personal experience). Note that there is a problem with
low-level digital noise creeping into the Malibu's output. I haven't
found this to be a problem-- the card *still* sounds much nicer than my
SB16 -- but some people hate it.
