The error according to xgalaga is "could not open /dev/dsp".

WMSound doesn't really give a good error message, but it's
the same symptoms.

x11amp says
"could not open sound device" "could not reset sound device"

All programs which use /dev/dsp no longer work, with
the possible exception of aplay, which is the only
working sound app at the moment.

What sound interface does aplay use?

Thanks!
