Hello

I'm new to Linux&Sound and because I didn't want to recompile my kernel just
for sound I installed ALSA pre10.

Compiling and installing seemed to work fine, except for masses of "unresolved
symbols" error messages after doing a `depmod -a`.

I have a 2.0.34 system and my soundcard is a GUS MAX. I can play MODs and MP3s
so I guess the PCM part of the drivers work fine. What I cannot play are
MIDIs. I always get this error: open /dev/sequencer: Operation not supported
by device. What's this? Do I have to install another module besides snd-gusmax?

Last question: Where are the docs? I didn't find them in the driver archive
but INSTALL asks me to read the docs and edit /etc/mod.conf or something
accordingly. How am I supposed to do that without the docs? This irritates me
a lot.
