I have no idea if this will help... but here's something I found in one
of the soundcard newsgroups a long time ago, from Patrick R. Mullen:

"One person, though, has reported WAV noise problems with the Malibu,
claiming their older CS4231 based Tropez board had cleaner
audio. My guess is that they have an DMA conflict between the Malibu's
CS4237B and their LPT port (the LPT port is setup in their
BIOS as an ECC/ECP port, so it's also eating a DMA). You might want to
recommend to people that they install the Malibu is such a
way that the DMA ports for the CS4237B (usually DMA 0,1, and/or 3) are
not being shared with another system device (the CS4232 codec
has this DMA-sharing problem too)."

I've also noticed low-level noise with the Malibu, as have several other
people I've corresponded with. It's not at a level that bothers me (at
least not so far), but I know some people find it intolerable. Maybe
mines' not as bad as yours? Who knows.

Good luck,

PW
