Subject: HLP: Can't playmidi & how to auto-start ALSA?

I have installed the ALSA package, all seems fine except the following 2
problems, is anyone there can help?

1) I still can't play MIDI, look like:

   [/root]# playmidi /mnt/hdC/windows/media/canyon.mid
   Playmidi 2.4 Copyright (C) 1994-1997 Nathan I. Laredo, AWE32 by Takashi
   Iwai
This is free software with ABSOLUTELY NO WARRANTY.
For details please see the file COPYING.
open /dev/sequencer: Operation not supported by device
   ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^

I don't understand what the last line means. Is there anything
wrong with the sound driver? Does this program 'playmidi' work on your
   machine?

4) How to auto-start the ALSA sound driver? Each time I have to start it
   manually using 'driver/utils/alsasound'.

I noticed that when the machine reboots it complains about something
   like:

   " ... ... ...
     ... modules/misc/snd-pcm1-oss ...unresolved symbols ...
     ... ... ...
   "

I guess maybe this has something to do with the program
'driver/utils/export-symbols', but not sure. And there's no doc, I
don't know how to use it.

Another possiblity is that: the program 'usr/sbin/alsactl' looks for
a default file at '/etc/asound.conf', I think it should be created
by 'make install', but I don't have this file at all. Do you have it,
and what's use of this file?

Thanks.
