Subject: Alsa doesn't seem to work with Vice (CBM emulator)

I recently installed the newest Alsa drivers, libs and utils. Everything
else (aplay, x11amp, mpg123, splay, DAP, Quake 1&2, xmixer, mtv, xanim,
RealAudio, etc. etc.) work flawlesly except sound in Vice CBM emulator.

http://www.tu-chemnitz.de/~fachat/vice/vice.html

  It just gives messages like:

SID: warning: opened device 'uss' speed 22050Hz fragsize 0.023s bufsize
0.372s
SID: warning: GETOSPACE: ret(16384)!=bytes(131072)
SID: warning: GETOSPACE: bytes > bufsize
SID: warning: SUSPEND: disabling sid for 5 secs (buffer overruns)

all the time without playing any proper sound.

Normally (with ultra-2.99a-devel4 driver) Vice gives thiskind messages
only when there is not enough cpu power for sound. I tried some dma_buffer
size settings and some Vice setting without success.

I had some problems with earlier (sorry don't remember which one)
ultra-2.99a-devel drivers and Vice but with devel4 it worked just fine.
Then (earlier devel) sound quality was sometimes very poor.

Some info: Gus PnP with 2 MB RAM, RedHat 5.0, Kernel 2.0.33, used pgcc
1.02 compiling drivers. Kernel is compiled with gcc 2.7.2.3 (which I don't
have anymore installed).

  Any ideas, thanks in advance
