The system is Red Hat 5.1
Kernel 2.0.35
Sound Blaster 16=20

The problem is that I just cannot get the driver working.
Could someone please post a step-by-step manual how to make regular =
Sound Blaster 16 soundcard working?=20

I believe that it's the most common soundcard out there and therefore =
that would be a great help for all of us dummies.

I installed everything; alsadriver, libs and utils.
I didn't know what I should put to the /etc/conf.modules file, so one =
guy gave me his /etc/conf.modules file and said that altough he has a =
SB64, it should work.

Here is my conf.modules and the output of cat /dev/sndstat

Here is the conf.modules file :

---cut---

alias char-major-14 sound
alias snd-minor-oss-0 snd-mixer
alias snd-minor-oss-3 snd-pcm1-oss
alias snd-minor-oss-4 snd-pcm1-oss
alias snd-minor-oss-5 snd-pcm1-oss
alias snd-minor-oss-12 snd-pcm1-oss
alias snd-card-0 snd-sb16
options snd snd_major=3D14 snd_cards_limit=3D1
options snd-sb16 snd_index=3D1 snd_port=3D0x220 snd_irq=3D5 snd_dma8=3D1 =
snd_dma16=3D5

---cut---

cat /dev/sndstat looks like this :

---cut---

[root@localhost /] cat /dev/sndstat
