I'm thinking about dumping ALSA and upgrading to the new kernel 2.1.125
which supports ES1370/ES1371 chips (AudioPCI). Any suggestions or comments
?

If I want to uninstall ALSA do I just have to remove the module from
/etc/modules and /etc/conf.modules and delete its directory ?
