For connection of external MIDI devices (synthesizers, keyboards etc..).

No support at this time... Work in progress...

Most of your described problems (IRQ list etc..) is caused that ESS1688
chip for which is driver written doesn't support some features which
ESS1868 chip have. I also don't know if ESS1688 chip can share interrupts
with CODEC part, thus two different interrupts (one for codec and one
for MPU-401 is required).

Good news - I have datasheets for ESS1868/ESS1869/ESS1878/ESS1879 chips,
so support for these duplex chips will be added soon...

This mixer control is used for example in GUS Extreme for GF1 input, but
it shouldn't be used with other soundcards.

Wait for ESS1868 driver...

At this time isn't this possible... (I simply don't have time to add this
feature to driver - too much ideas and only one coder :-(((((().

FM - Frequency Modulation (analog oscilators)
PCM - Pulse Code Modulation (digital data)

OSS PCM extra module: This is add-on module which ensures compatibility
with OSS/Lite. ALSA have own native PCM protocol for application which
is more robust.
