Yes. There's a solution - have you read the INSTALL guide? At the end there 
are some examples of conf.modules file. And they have changed since 2.0pre 
versions. You need to add:

alias oss_minor_7 snd

and some other 'minors' too. I can't check it at that moment.

Tell me if the x11amp works at all. I tried to run it the other day but all I 
got were some scratches and noises... But I remember that it used to work few 
months ago... Maybe it was in the ultra driver's era...
