hello all,
I'm rather new to alsa, i've just recently come from an unsuccessful
wrestling match with OSS/Free and my Yamaha OPL3-SA3. This is an
integrated sound card which came with a Dell Dimension XPS Dxxx series
machine. I am always using the newest development kernels (currently
2.1.119), along with Tom Lee's plug n' play patch. The patch has no
problems detecting the card. i haven't quite got figured out how to
configure conf.modules for this card, so in the interim i am issuing the
command:

modprobe snd-opl3sa snd_port=0x370 snd_wss_port=0x530
snd_midi_port=0x330 snd_fm_port=0x388 snd_irq=5 snd_dma1=0
snd_dma1_size=32 snd_dma2=3 snd_dma2_size=32

the response is:

snd-mixer: Device or resource busy

the modules are loaded, but the snd-opl3sa module is uninitialized, and
seems to be untouchable. any access to /dev/snd* or /proc/sound/ results
in a segfault.

i think that i've read all the included documentation, but as i'm knew
with alsa, any help you can give me would be great. also, please let me
know if i can provide more information to solve this problem.

thanks in advance,

btw, i've really just guessed at the numbers for dma1 and 2 size - are
these values critical?
