I have the requirement to play up to around 8 sounds in a system. Some =
continuously, some intermittently.

Is it possible to 'load' the sound cards with these sounds ( i think =
like creative labs sound fonts ) and then switch them on, then off at =
will and have all the sounds be independantly playing on the card, and =
take no cpu-time. I've seen this done using a gravis sound card under =
dos, where the sounds are loaded onto the card at initialisation, and =
then gravis api calls allow playing of these sounds asynchronously.

Whats would be the best way to do this, if it is at all possible.
