Apropos

localhost:[*root*]/opt/ALSA/CVS $ ./build
Usage: build [ prep | config | all | clean | rpms ]

Must each of these five steps be executed in sequence?

`config', `all', and `rpms' look reasonably familiar but I am not sure about
`prep'.

And I like to avoid taking unnecessary risks when logged in as `root'.
