This is not the point. My /dev/sndstat and /proc/sound show exactly the
same: no installed drivers :-(
I have worked around those problems, but this should only be a temporary
solution.

??? If they really register themselfes, there should be something in
/dev/sndstat, this doesn't fit to the things you said above ???

Does ALSA support /dev/sndstat or does it not ?
