Hi,

The ALSA installation guide says for kernels 2.0 and 2.1 that you must
turn off sound support and OSS must be removed. For 2.2, or later, you
must turn on sound support with OSS being an option. If you have
compiled it in the kernel you can turn off OSS emulation by using
--with-oss=no switch.

Regarding the selection of modular support, you only have yes or no
selections available.

For kernel 2.2.2 and 2.2.3 I have yes for the three options for modular
support, m for sound support and m for OSS and no cards selected. It
works fine.

The readme talks about having sound on, but does not mention including
OSS
(this must be off for 2.0.x kernels). I'm confused: what needs to be on,

and should it be Y or M that I choose in "make xconfig"?
