You should use
 post-install snd-sb16 /usr/bin/amixer -p /home/glenn/.amixerrc -r

Or use
 alsactl restore

I don't use post-install and don't know if it really works but it might. I
use alsasound script on startup so it won't unload the modules. Actually
if you use kmod it never unloads modules.
