Even if I insmod snd-pcm1-oss.o then depmod -a I still get very little sound
support, so as a test I download the commercial version of OSS to see what that
did, Viola Instant SB32/AWE32 support. All KDE sound apps work and now I'm
stuck.
So now I know my sound system works, and it's not the hardware
at fault.
I am in tricky situation now, support a product that obviosly works for
so many people, but not for me, in the hope that it will improve, OR and this a
big or for me in the UK, get an international money order, find $30 ( hard for
someone looking for work and only recieving a standard state benefit) and buy
into a non open source venture, something I wanted to try to avoid when I
ditched M$ products for Linux KDE and StarOffice.
Any Suggestions on the above dilema greatfully accepted, any solutions to the
audio/ALSA/KDE/SB32 problem begged for.
Thanks in advance.
