Dear All

I have a problem getting my microhpone to work with software such as xwave
or spreakfreely under ALSA. I have loaded and successfully used
snd-pcm1-oss.o with playback, so I guess OSS compatibility should not be a
problem. The microphone output also comes though the mixer, but there
seems to be nothing at /dev/audio, such that recording etc... is not
possible.

I tried to do something of the sort

echo "Record xwave 0 0 " > /proc/asound/0/pcm0r

whereupon I get the error message

bash: /proc/asound/0/pcm0r: Operation not supported by device

On the other hand I am not really sure what I am doing here as I could
only find very limited doc's on the matter. If anyone has any idea of what
is going on, any help would be appreciated...

Thanks for everyone who replied to my question about getting the "unknown
function request_module" error when loading snd.o under 2.2.x. The
solution is to turn ov module versions in the kernel. I don't know why
this is the case as I did recompile the alsa-drivers under the new 2.2.x
kernel, so the version numbers should be correct.

	Thanks

		Sebastian
