I have successfully been using the ALSA 0.3-pre3, I believe, with kernel
2.2.0. I went into the sound init script which comes with my RH5.2 system
and replaced everything with calls to modprobe, and then set up the
system to load the "sound" module when it boots up. Works fine. Of
course, is this the way your supposed to do it with the 2.2 kernel series?
