I have an old GUS-classic soundcard and I'm experiencing some
problems with the alsa-driver when memory is very much
fragmented. It seems the driver is then only able to allocate
very small dma buffers och no dma buffers at all. I've tried
most of the available driver versions on my Linux 2.2.0-preN
i586 system, but always with the same result.

Is there a good solution for this? Surely I cannot be the only
one in this situation. It would be nice if I could configure the
driver to allocate static buffers when loaded - in a similar
fashion to what the ultra driver did.

	Thank you,
