Hi there.....

I have an Ensoniq Audio PCI with 1371 chip which I think is NEARLY the
same as the SB PCI-64 (I believe the SB PCI-64 has an 1370 chip...I dunno
the exact differences between those too...any1?)...anyway my MIDI is a
problem too. There is NO Midi hardware aboard these cards, and the fact
they use up more CPU time is I think a result of that. I am positively
sure there is not even a 64 voices hardware mode as stated be4 by some1,
I have been thru many pages who told me there is absolutely no Midi
hardware. That explains why there is no Midi available under Linux (of
course). There is a solution though, as some1 wrote me be4:

The Ensoniq Audio PCI has no MIDI synth on it, and you need TiMiDiTy
in
order to play MIDI files on it. (Read the documentation in
/usr/src/linux/Documentation/sound)

So this program TiMiDiTy would be the solution for the
problem...though I haven't been able to try it yet, I will report the
results as soon as I did. Once again, SB PCI-64 and Ensoniq Audio-PCI (by
Creative too) are NOT the same, so I cannot guarantee this being the
right solution for yr problems...it might just be worth the try.
