Because of intel endianess the WAV format is more efficient. The WAV format
is basically a rip-off of the AIFF format. Both have comparable features.

Regarding the loop points in the WAV format: yes these are supported; one
can define loops, cue points, and even a play-list of these loops. Files
that have these features are not very common, but most MS-Windows audio
editors are capable of working with these loops (eg. soundforce, cooledit).
