This had me baffled as well, however it does work and it does work _very_
well.

You can run the thing in full duplex so don't uncomment the half duplex setting,
you do however have to add -DAUDIO_BLOCKING to the CFLAGS line in the Makefile.
See the comments.

Anyone interested in hacking soundbyte.c to work with Alsa? It needs to get
8K Mu-Law samples and play them in sfspeaker.
