  Ooh. New toys are fun.

Oh yeah, especially this one (Transmonde Vivante SE). Other than the sound,
it runs perfectly under Linux.

Well, the ALSA team is pretty small right now. If you don't take up a
leadership position on this effort, the chances of it going anywhere are
  slim to none.

OK, I can understand that. Also, it's not like anyone can't step in and
take over things or offer suggestions if I'm headed in the wrong direction.

Well, luckily, ESS is rather good about documenting their hardware.

*Thank you* for the pointer- I'd been fruitlessly searching on the USA site.

You might want to poke around a bit there for other docs that might also
  be helpful.

I got 'em all. Looks like I've got a driver to write!

Then it should be a snap.

Well, now that I have docs, I guess it's official, count me in! I guess
we'll have at least SB16 compatibility soon.

Now, some questions to the rest of the group at large:

- I assume code reuse is not only welcomed, but probably required
- How do we submit changes? I'd just gotten on this list about 4 days
ago, but remember a discussion about a corrupt (?) CVS tree?

... more to come, later. I've got code and docs to read, and stuff to write!
