I'm very interested in writing a driver for the Event Electronics Layla
recording system. It consists of a PCI card that connects to a
rack-mountable module that contains 10 Balanced 1/4" inputs, 12 balanced
1/4" outputs (all switchable between -10/+4db) as well as several time
sych ports to connect to a digital timepiece, etc.

First, would it be feasible to write a driver supporting all of those
inputs and outputs simultaneously (as is the case in windows). Secondly,
where do I go to find out about sound driver and linux driver programming.
I've got enough of a programming background to handle this, I believe,
just not drivers. :-(

My goal is to provide a platform and software to rival ProTools and
CoolEdit Pro but in a GPL fashion.

Thanks in advance.... oh, and there are some DSP's involved, so I suppose
that could get tricky.
