I haven't been able to break it yet, though there are a couple of
problems:

* It thinks it's version 0.1.6 (whoops)

* It doesn't recognize when channels are mono, which makes for some odd
behavior when two mixers are up and you can see the feedback: if the
left/right bars are unlocked, one can set them independantly, but they
are actually set to the average of left & right, and if either left or
right is muted the whole channel gets muted. Since the mixer only shows
feedback from _other_ programs' doings and not its own, the mixer that
one does this on will show incorrect left/right volumes and mutedness
while a second mixer will show the correct state.

Other than that it's great... Oh, and I've been meaning to mention this,
but the label on the tab is taken from the mixer chip rather than the card
name. People not familiar with their hardware might be confused to see
"Asahi Kasei AK4351" and "CTL1345" if they expect the card names, "Ensoniq
AudioPCI" and "Sound Blaster Pro" to show up instead.

I'm attaching a patch which will use the card name if it can open the card
control device, or will fall back on the mixer name if for some reason it
could get the mixer but not the control... On the other hand some people
might prefer to see the mixer name than the card, if so it could be made
an option very easily.

Also, it looks like it'll only deal with the first mixer for each card.
Does anyone know of any sound cards that have multiple mixer devices on
them? It wouldn't be too hard to do I imagine, just ask all the cards how
many mixers they have (it's in the snd_ctl_hw_info struct that I'm
querying for the card name) and count them all up.
