hello, i just put in my pc the Diamond Multimedia Sonic Impact S70
 ( http://www.diamondmm.com/products/current/s70.cfm )

it is a PCI audio card based on a ESS Maestro 2 chip (for a review you
could go here http://www.esstech.com/product/pciaudio/Maestro.htm)

you can find a brief datasheet here:

   ftp://ftp.esstech.com.tw/PCIAudio/Maestro2/DSMaestro2.pdf

i interested in develop a driver for the alsa project but i'm very
inexperienced in writing kernel code.

i was just thinking that i could "borrow" some code or the skeleton from
one of the PCI audio card already supported like sonicvibes or ensoniq..

this card is a "2 chip" PC97 compliant project; there is also a Tritech
TR28023 audio codec.

datasheet here:

  http://www.tritechmicro.st.com.sg/products/audio/triac97.html

actually in my pc there are 2 audio card - a isa sb16 and the pci s70;
i have the latest alsa driver running on the sb16, too! :-)

post your comments!

ciao

andrea
