I have only tried this once, but I cated a midi file to
/proc/sound/dev/midi00, I expected an error or something, but it just sat
there in X so I hit Control-C, nothing, moved the mouse nothing, watched my
hub and the computer wasn't responding there either. Concidering I was a
normal user, this is a very bad thing.

AeroSpace:/proc/sound$ cat version
Advanced Linux Sound Architecture Driver Version 0.2.0-pre4.
Compiled in Aug 9 1998 for kernel 2.1.110 (SMP).
0 [card1 ]: GUS - Gravis UltraSound MAX
Gravis UltraSound MAX at 0x220, irq 5, dma 5&6

Linux AeroSpace 2.1.110 #83 SMP Wed Jul 22 22:09:33 CDT 1998 i586 unknown

P.s. could anyone suggest a midi player that I can use with ALSA and my
sound card?
