First, sorry about the HTML, I am currently on a friend`s system using Windows

I know you are all sound freaks, and I am a sound freak-want-to-be. Is there a
book that tells about filters? I really need to know, I am tring to build a sound
card and all I really have is the DAC. I don`t have an ALSA driver for it or
anything because I haven`t played too much with ALSA drivers. (I will later
because I hate SUIDing all my test programs.)

Also, my email has been down and all unrecieved messages were purged. Can anybody
tell me if ALSA mixes sounds if you open the sound device >1 time? If so, can
hardware mix it, or is the driver written in such a way that software only can
mix?

Third and final: I have been looking at liner effects (thats why I was asking
about filters). I think it would be extreamly useful to include freq. enveloples,
ampltude envelopes, and other effects. My sound card (that I am building) does
this in hardware and also caches samples on a 1MB SIMM (i.e. mods).

Any info will be appreciated
