Hi!

I released first debug release of ALSA 0.2.0 which contain timer
interface and kernel-side rawmidi interface (you should look to kernel/test.c
code how to use both). These interfaces are designed for sequencer and
they allow write code kernel-side MIDI clients for external MIDI
devices now.
Prototype of Frank van de Pol's sequencer is included. It should
be now cleanly compiled with 2.0.X kernels, too. Sequencer must be
compiled separately (cd kernel/seq; make; insmod snd-seq.o; insmod
snd-systimer.o). If you want test this sequencer - please get original
package, too. Only sequencer kernel is included in ALSA driver, not
playmidi and other utilities/clients which are needed.
Any comments? Working hands on sequencer and code for other
soundcards are needed now... We should now stabilize sequencer events
(which looks very good for me!!) and sequencer code. I'll begin work
on sequencer clients for GUS cards after timer, kernel-side MIDI
clients and events will be stable (until playmidi willn't work
perfectly for external MIDI device).
OK. I'll try write next week module for Yamaha OPL3-SA[23]
chips...
