Well, if the current environment is working good, stay with it. SGML is a
completely different pair of shoes though, and it is not easy to use first.
And you don't have control over output as easy as in HTML+CSS. (You need to
learn DSSSL to do that).

Perl is available under GPL and Artistic License, to your liking.

Whoa! The problem you will encounter is that different formats need
different structurization, and that HTML markup is not satisfying.
But there you go. Sometimes a specialised application is preferable over a
general flexible solution, especially if it is already existing :)

I will probably still try to move some pages from html to sgml for you to
look at. Shouldn't be too hard (I didn't knew the source is in html, i
though it is in Lyx).
