sgmltools is just for one specific type of SGML. Note that SGML is a huge
field, and SGML itself has no restrictions whatsoever, because it is an
abstract design. A concrete SGML spec like docbook can have many features
(indeed, docbook has a lot of fetaures). The question is how the DSSSL
engine comes along, and Jade does a nice job here.

The whole idea of SGML is that you can convert from SGML to any and all
formats (Jade does support RTF, html, JadeTeX (special TeX for Jade, from
there to PS and PDF). So the conversion loses information is actually an
argument pro sgml, because you derive each format froma single abstract
source (SGML source file).

Uh. Converting from Lyx to SGML using Docbook is a bit of work. If you are
satisfied by an exemplary part (two or three pages with picture), I might
provide one. Just let me know.
