realized after having a moment to ponder..

That won't work (replacing sndstat with a file) (yes I tried it anyway
:))

It is not a "file" per se.

SO the official rule is if it is silly enough to use sndstat as a
starting point it is DOA from here on huh?

DO I have this all wrong and soemone out there has sound studio working
an a 0.3-pre4 (+) release?

BTW sorry for the HTML posts, I forgot to kill that last time I upgraded
Netscrape (sic).

SHould be fixed now..

QUESTION#2
I saw a mention of "default" mixer level with regard to a GUS hissing
problem.

I am interested in this because I am getting tired of running amixer -r
each time I go to use the sound device without so form of mixer or
"tool" open to keep kmod from removing the sound modules and resetting
the levels.

Is there a way to set default mixer values without tweaking the driver?

Thought I would check ...

Thanks again,

/Mike
