 There is already a start of SF2 editor for linux.

 I would probably be very interested in helping work on a SF2 editor 
if it was adopted as a standard for ALSA. Takashi has already done
at lot of good work for parsing these files etc :-)

Note that the SF2 format had a lot of input from the guys at EMU who
are a lot cooler than creative labs (OK I know EMU are now part of
creative but you know what I mean ? )
It is my understanding that the SF2 specification is of a generic nature
(not just aimed at the EMU8000).
