	Do you mean that if you open the mixer in the input direction
you'll only get line-in and mic channels?  Can you explain this further?
Will a general mixer program still be possible?  Will it take a lot more
work to implement one?

	A stable API is definitely a good thing.  Of course, since ALSA is
in development, the object is to get the best API possible, then keep it
stable once it's at its best.  Binary compatability is almost
insignificant to open source developers, just tell everyone to recompile.

	That would, of course, be appreciated, but whatever it takes to
make ALSA the best is even more appreciated.
