He did indeed, but due to the nature of the proposal his coverage was minimal.
It did suggest to me the idea of using the sequencer for timing (seems 
obvious, I know ..).
  My original thought was to try to add the necessary support to the ALSA 
drivers themselves; therefore I joined this list.  I'm still thinking in 
these terms.  I think this capability would be useful to more people than 
myself if I could work out a good way to generalise it.
