Hi!
I have a Sound16A soundcard, before i've always been running the OSS
version included
in the kernel but i've never been able to run 16bits mode, I've always
had 8bits mode, even that my card supports 16-bit.
After a while I got very tired of this
and thought that maybe I should try something else, and a friend
recommended ALSA. I had some troubles installing ALSA but after a while
it worked.
But now a new problem appeared, SB16 didn't
work, so I tried SB8 instead, it worked and /proc/asound/devices
says that I have a SB-PRO.
But when I tried to play sound, I noticed something strange,
the sound sounds very bad and it only play a few seconds and then
repeats.
If i try to play an MP3 i hear the first seconds of music then it starts
over from beginning again.
If you have any idea what the cause of this is, I would be very happy to
hear.
I first thought that this might be an IRQ conflict, but I've tried many
different
IRQs and none of them work.
I know that my card is not supported and so, but still if you have any
clue
I would be grateful to hear!
Thanks!
