I've been trying for about a week to get the "real" .PDF document for
the ESS Maestro 2 PCI, the one that describes in full detail the ASSP
(Application-Specific Signal Processor), another processor referred to as
the "APU", as well as minutiae like the way the CODEC is checked for a
pending operation before a new I/O, etc.

I've been bounced back and forth, and now I'm waiting for a guy named
"Russell <something Asian>" (ext. 1244) to return my calls (he might be out of
the office this week, however).

I can't do PCM w/o the details of that chip, 'cause that's the only way I
can turn the various sample-rate streams into the 48KHz the AC-97 CODEC
requires.

fnyone got an "insider" at ESS Tech., or a better number to call?
